Hello! I just moved to a new east-facing house with clay-y soil in Denver. I have plans for a food garden and some native plants to make pollinators happy... but I also have some very specific flowery and viny dreams. That last one is what I need advice on!
I want to plant:
1) a mock orange
2) some climbing vines (perhaps a Kintzey's Ghost honeysuckle if I can get my hands on it and/or white clematis) on the side of the house, garage, and maybe a fence.
3) something to provide some privacy around and in front of the massive the east-facing front windows of my house (probably the climbing vines, maybe something else)? This site gets about 8 hours of direct morning light year-round, and already has a little rose bush.
Any advice? Are these good plant choices? What will help them start out happy and get happier as they grow? What other plants could I think about? I'm not up for really high-maintenance plants, but I can amend soil and water on schedule, do some trimming, etc.
Help would be lovely.
