Apple identification #156235
Asked October 08, 2013, 3:35 PM EDT
Looking for an individual to identify the 20 some variety of apple trees in my small orchard. I saved an apple from each tree this year. Willing to pay for individual's services. I live in Elmira, but am willing to take the apples to the individual.
Lane County Oregon
Expert Response
Hi there,
Apple ID is tough but some Master Gardener programs may have a local expert that can identify apple varieties. I would try contacting the Lane County Master Gardeners at 541-344-0265 (Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2-5 p.m.) to see if they have a Master Gardener who can do this. If not, I would ask them if retired horticulture agent, Ross Penhallegon, may be able to help you out with this. He has a lot of fruit tree experience but he is only working part-time due to retirement and may not be offering certain services anymore.
Good luck!
