I have decided not to plant my vegetable garden this spring. Normally I plant tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, green beans, sometimes onions, beets, lettuce, radishes. The soil may not need a rest, but I do. What should I do to keep the weeds down and, if possible, make the soil even better for next year? Should I plant a cover crop of some kind, flowers maybe? What about covering the soil with grass clippings? Any help or ideas you can give me will be appreciated.
