We recently moved to a property with a plum tree. I am not super familiar with taking care of them, but know the basics to disinfect your shears, etc. The first year that we were here, there were a ton of plums, and the tree looked good. In the last couple of years, I have pruned in spring before blossoms, and I have sprayed with Neam oil, but I have noticed while pruning that there are a lot of little dead branches and not new growth. And the little dead branches are everywhere, even back to the main branches of the tree. I’ve tried to remove all the dead wood back to good wood, but I’m finding branches like what is pictured below— with black spots in the wood. I can tell something is wrong because we haven’t gotten as many plums and the tree just doesn’t seem healthy—possibly Silver Leaf fungus? Again, not at all familiar with plum trees. Any info and help would be great!
